What makes a gym shoe? We take a closer look at what you should be wearing 'down the gym.

UK Gear GT-02

This is a pure cross trainer and does a great job. The shoe feels quite low to the ground and has a secure upper, wich means it offers good stability. There is, however, enough midsole to give good cushioning. The way the sole and midsole are rounded off at the edges means the shoe works well when you are moving side to side and this, combined with the traction from the outsole, gives you a confident feel, however much you are twisting and turning.
