Heritage.

The company was founded in 1993 and only a year later was supplying performance clothing to the Scottish and Welsh athletes for all sports in the Commonwealth Games, this feat was repeated in 1998. In 1999 UK Gear supplied The West Indies Cricket Team with all their performance clothing and in 2001 the relationship with the British Army was formed; leading to the co-ordination in design and testing with The British Army’s Physical Training Corps (APTC).

In 2004 the PT-03 running shoe was launched-the first ever commercial product to earn the distinguished right to bear the British Army’s crossed swords insignia.
The year 2005 saw the launch of the GT-02 cross trainer. In the same year both the PT-03 and GT-02 were officially adopted as the approved training shoes for the British Army. Within the same 12 months UK Gear won a contract to supply a 3rd running shoe - the XC-09 to the German Military and the opening of UK Gear North America was unveiled. Soon after, UK Gear launched in Australia and then won the contract to supply the US Air Force Training Academy (USAFA) with both the PT-03 and GT-02.
In 2008 the unique extreme environment PT-03 DESERT and WINTER versions of the original running shoe were released following intensive Army trials in Afghanistan and Norway respectively. This successful launch was almost immediately followed by the winning of the contract to supply the US Army’s prestigious and world renowned West Point Training Academy. At the same time shoes were supplied to the Polish Special Forces (GROM) and the Greek military.
In 2009 UK Gear shoes were notably approved by the Senior Physical Therapist of the US Army Running Shoe Program for use in training by US Army recruits.
