...for the Military

UK Gear’s training shoes were originally designed in association with the Royal Army Physical Training Corps (RAPTC). These elite fitness professionals were closely involved in the development and tested our products in some of the most inhospitable conditions on Earth. Only when approved by the Military do we consider our products... Built to survive.

UK GEAR XC-09 £64.99

The XC-09 has a pedigree that stems from the military and incorporates many of the technologies used in the PT-03, which we tested early in '04. Cushioning is firm at the heel and moderate on the forefoot thanks to a Solite EVA midsole and cushioning sockliner. On the inner heel (medial) side it has a firmer DUO MASS insert that retains foot alignment and reduces pronation tendencies-a useful feature on unpredictable off-road terrain. The sole looks similar to Saucony's triangular lugs and provides similarly good grip.
The upper is well padded around the heel and includes an anti-microbal treated lining. The lace loops are reinforced, ensuring the foot is positioned firmly in the shoe. When running in low light the shoes show up well, with 3M reflective detailing 360º round, and it even has a name tag inside the tongue in case something unfortunate befalls you.

Performance 8 | Value 8
Verdict: Solid off-road shoe for the adventurous cross trainer
