...for the Military

UK Gear’s training shoes were originally designed in association with the Royal Army Physical Training Corps (RAPTC). These elite fitness professionals were closely involved in the development and tested our products in some of the most inhospitable conditions on Earth. The Sun - Germans run for it

>>17 May 2004

A British sportswear company has beaten top global brands to supply running shoes for the German military.

The XC-09 cross-country trail running shoe made by UK GEAR - based at Nuneaton, Warks - has also won Nato approval.

It beat names like ADIDAS and NEW BALANCE to win the German contract. UK Gear - which has designed and made kit for the West Indies cricket team and the Warwickshire, Surrey and Leicestershire county sides among others - has already won success with a previous shoe, the PT-03, designed with the British Army.

Managing Director David Hinde said: "When it comes to developing innovative, high-performance sportswear, working with the armed forces is fantastic. I can't think of anyone who could challenge us more.

"We are continuing to work with the British Army on designs for two new running shoes that we hope to launch early in 2006."
