...for the Military

UK Gear’s training shoes were originally designed in association with the Royal Army Physical Training Corps (RAPTC). These elite fitness professionals were closely involved in the development and tested our products in some of the most inhospitable conditions on Earth. Only when approved by the Military do we consider our products... Built to survive.

PT-03 WINTER - 220 Triathlon Magazine

>>15 December 2008

UK Gear's winter version of the PT-03 has been designed to withstand the harshest of weather conditions. And after being 12 months in the making, before going through final wear testing with the British Army in Norway, we were looking forward to trying it on for size.
The cushioning works nicely; there's some medial support that guides your foot if you over-pronate; and a fairly flexible forefoot for running at most paces. Plus the outsole grips well both on and off-road.

As well as a waterproof upper, there's also added scuff-proof material around the bottom to give added protection, meaning the shoe keeps water out on most training runs. (Of course, if water does comes over the top of the shoe, your feet are inevitably going to get wet.)

The pay-off of this durability is reduction in the shoe's flexibility. It's not a disastrous amount of loss but, if you don't mind slightly damp feet, then the standard PT-03 model will suit you just as well.
