A shoe that claims it's tough enough to withstand a thousand miles of pounding.

The costs can rack up as quickly as the miles for runners who go through training shoes quickly, which is why British company UK Gear has come up with a super-durable road and trail hybrid shoe: the PT-1000, £95. Designed to last 1,000 miles - double the normally accepted shelf-life of a pair of training shoes - and to cope with any surface, the shoe was created with input from the Army Physical Training Corps, who tested the shoes to exhaustion in a variety of locations from Afghanistan to Aldershot.

The proprietary Dureva midsole material is designed to retain its cushioning for twice as long as normal midsole foams, the outsole is made from a reinforced carbon rubber and there are trail-friendly features such as an aggressive tread pattern and tough leather over the toes for protection against the elements.
